Officials say Hancock County courthouse fire possibly began on second floor
SPARTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Officials say witnesses’ accounts of Monday’s courthouse fire show the blaze may have started on the second floor.
Officials with the state fire marshal say the investigation is closed and ruled “undetermined.”
Public information officer Glenn Allen adds because the floor collapsed, there’s no way of knowing how the fire actually started.
County Commission chair Sistie Hudson says it’s likely temporary offices for courthouse employees will be located at the Sparta branch of the Oconee Fall Line Technical College.
