Officials Investigate Suspicious Device in Jones County
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Officials in Jones County shut down streets and secured areas, after a suspicious device was found on Highway 49 near Pamela Drive.
According to Sergeant Travis Douglas with Jones County Sheriff’s Office, around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, investigators came across what appeared to be a homemade pipe bomb. The Macon-Bibb County Bomb Squad came out and detonated it twice, before they determined it was a safe.
This is an on-going investigation.
