October 6th is now “Paint the Town Pink Day”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Paint the Town Pink Day was proclaimed by Mayor Robert Reichert.

Mayor Robert Reichert made the announcement today in front of a room full of breast cancer survivors at the Peyton Anderson Cancer Center.

Everyone said they were excited to see how much pink will fill Macon next year, now that the entire community knows about this special day.

Deborrah Clark is a three year breast cancer survivor. She said she’s happy about the new day.

“I think it’s a good thing for Macon and then it helps survivors to realize that we are not in this all alone,” Clark said. “You know we have the mayor and the city as well with us.”

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
