FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The North Lee Street railroad crossing in Forsyth will be closed Friday, February 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for urgent repairs, according to a Thurday notice from the City of Forsyth.

According to the notice, Norfolk Southern Railroad notified the city on short notice that the closure is necessary due to a defect in the rail system. The city said no traffic will be allowed to pass during the repairs.

Officials expect “major” traffic disruptions but plan to deploy additional public works and police staff to help minimize complications. The city says drivers should use alternate routes and follow the attached traffic control plan.

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation,” the notice said.
