Nonprofits Get Ready for Georgia Gives Day
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia’s nonprofits are gearing up for the second annual Georgia Gives Day.
According to the Director of Donor Services for the Community Foundation, Julia Wood, the one-day event takes online donating to a whole other level.
The Georgia Center for Nonprofits hosts the event to challenge supporters to raise money for any nonprofit organization in the peach state.
More than 121 local foundations will participate, hoping to raise money toward their cause and win big prizes.
Wood says the event sends a strong message to the community.
“What’s really important about this is when you give on Georgia Gives Day to your favorite nonprofit, or to a new one, you’re helping them leverage additional funds to support their mission here in central Georgia.”
According to Wood, about 20 percent of the money raised last year came from first-time donors.
The official day of giving is this Wednesday, November 13th.
