Nine people train to become lifeguards at Macon pools

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Nine people are training to save lives this summer at local pools.

Macon-Bibb County spokesperson Chris Floore says there are not enough lifeguards to open the pools six days a week. The men and women being tested Thursday hope to become lifeguards for Macon-Bibb county.

“I think it’s good if they have enough lifeguards for every pool,” says Macon resident Sareena Ramsey. “I think every pool should have lifeguards to prevent unintentional accidents or save anybody’s life. I don’t think there should ever be a pool that doesn’t have lifeguards.”

Floore adds once the lifeguards pass the test, then the city can open park pools six days a week.
