MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Details have emerged about the arrest of a Houston County Sheriff’s Office deputy for suspected DUI near Skyview Elementary School on November 19.

41NBC first requested the incident report on the day of the arrest. However, it was not made available until Monday.

According to the report, a deputy responded to a call about a man directing traffic while wearing civilian clothing in front of the school. Witnesses had concerns about his behavior and thought he may be under the influence.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed the man, who he identified as Garrison Page, a former Bibb County deputy now working for the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, speaking with Bibb County Board of Education Police officers. The responding deputy wrote that Page, whose Houston County patrol vehicle was on the scene, had slurred speech, unsteady posture and smelled of alcohol.

“When Page noticed my presence, he immediately began walking away from the scene and entered the oncoming turning lane of the roadway,” the deputy wrote.

The responding deputy wrote that Page refused to provide a breath sample. A Bibb County Board of Education Police officer on the scene told the deputy Page appeared intoxicated and incoherent and was directing traffic in an area with no active traffic flow. Another BOE officer said Page responded with “None of your business” when asked if he required medical assistance or was taking medication.

The report also mentions that a parent had called another Bibb County deputy that morning and reported seeing Page earlier that day at Carr’s Convenience Store. The parent claimed Page appeared intoxicated and required help from a cashier to complete a transaction.

A search of Page’s patrol vehicle revealed an open can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade on the passenger seat, according to the report, as well as an unopened can of Natural Light beer inside a black bag. Page was arrested and taken to the Bibb County Jail, where he refused to consent to a blood test. The report says that after securing a warrant from a Superior Court Judge, deputies conducted a blood draw, despite Page trying to interfere with the procedure.

Page was processed into the Bibb County Jail. As of November 25, the Bibb County Jail’s online records no longer show Page in custody.

41NBC reached out to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for confirmation of Page’s employment status, but we haven’t received a response.
