The $9 million project will include 56 apartment units and give seniors some rich, taste of history.

“They could live in a beautiful renovated building such as this with amenities and live very comfortably,” says Kathie Lambert Executive Director at Fort Valley Downtown Development Authority.

“It’s a dream come true none of us wanted to see it torn down,” former Fort Valley High School student Kathy Thomas adds.

Construction will begin in 2018.

The developer’s plan is to also develop a community garden along with a commitment for training with Fort Valley State Univeristy’s students who are part of the coop plan.
