New part of Second Street closes as corridor project continues
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Second Street in Macon will be closed from Ash Street to the other side of the hump bridge starting Wednesday.
This is part of the on-going Second Street Downtown Corridor Connector Project.
Workers will be building a new part of the road to run from the intersection of Telfair Street and Little Richard Penniman Boulevard to the bridge.
“Once we get this route done, then we’ll begin the work at Hazel Street with the new storm water work that we have to do down there. That’s probably about an eight or nine week fix,” explained Macon-Bibb SPLOST Coordinator Clay Murphey.
Construction is expected to last about two months. Once it’s finished, the new road will open, but the hump bridge will stay closed.
