New park coming to Perry

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new park is coming to Perry, and city leaders say it’s improving an area that’s been vacant for years.

City council approved the decision for the new “Heritage” park on the west side of the city.
The Worrall Foundation is footing the bill for the 20 acre project.

Officials say they’re looking to maximize the space’s natural beauty.

“The real desire is to create a park where the community can just get out and enjoy the natural environment,” Jim Mehserle, a volunteer developer, said.

Park  plans haven’t been 100% approved.

Developers will now have to finalize and present a scheduled plan to council.

Officials believe the project will be finished in about a year.
