After nearly 30 years, GBI makes an arrest in missing Macon woman’s case
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Nearly 30 years after the disappearance of a Macon woman, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has made a break in the case.
The GBI arrested 46 year-old Melinda McSwain on kidnapping charges for, Sabrina Long, who was last seen at her home on August 14th, 1991. McSwain’s arrest happened on Thursday.
Special Agent JT Ricketson says after executing search warrants of McSwain’s home, they found evidence that linked her to the crime.
“What we do know is she was involved in Sabrina’s disappearance. What my understanding is they went to the same high school and they were friends at this time so I think they were both teenagers,” Ricketson told 41NBC.
Ricketson says at this time they’re still investigating the case as a missing persons case.
If you have any information that may help solve the case, you can call the GBI’s Perry office at 478-987-4545 or their tip line at 1-800-597-8477.
