Navicent Health working to stay ahead of healthcare system changes

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/ WMGT)- The Medical Center, Navicent Health and Mercer University are working to stay ahead of the changing healthcare market.

The Center for Disruption and Innovation focuses on new research that will help the hospital adapt to future changes. Mercer University Industrial Engineering students are figuring out how to decrease ER wait times and increase efficiency in patient care. Navicent Health officials are hopeful the new center will enhance technology and processes used in healthcare. The hospital decided to not create a new facility for the center.

“We decided to not have an actual building because we want people in the field. We feel that the space that we are in, which is a big health system, the medical center and all the things that we have is the space that we should be [in],” explained Dr. Ninfa Saunders, CEO of Navicent Health.

Navicent Health has been working on this project for two years.
