Navicent Health receives second shipment of vaccines, more expected soon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Medical Center Navicent Health received its second shipment of Pfizer vaccines Tuesday.

The hospital received 40 vials of the vaccine, following the 40 they received Monday. Each shipment of the vaccine can help 240 employees.

Navicent also expects a shipment of the Moderna vaccine soon. They expect 4,000 doses with that shipment.

Dr. Sanford Duke — chief clinical officer with Navicent Health —  says that even with the availability of the vaccines, do not let your guard down with pandemic guidelines.

How to stop the spread of COVID

  • Wear a mask
  • Social distance
  • Avoid large crowds and gatherings
  • Wash your hands
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces

Sanford said that about 50 percent of Navicent staff want to get vaccinated. The hospital will not require staff to get vaccinated, but they strongly encourage it.

“The safety profile remains excellent,” Sanford said. “We continue to trust the vaccine and we’re encouraging everyone whether it’s teammates, providers, and ultimately patients to get the vaccine because it truly is our best weapon against this pandemic.”
