Mount de Sales partners with Habitat for Humanity to build dog houses

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon area Habitat for Humanity partnered with Mount de Sales Academy to build dog houses. More than 20 students and their parents built them in the Southside Baptist church’s parking lot, Saturday.

Mount de Sales students reached their goal to make five doghouses for the community project. It was the first time the students worked on a project with their parents. “Our parents asked for us to plan a community event, where the parents and students could do a service project together,” says Mount de Sales Academy Director of Admissions, Ashley Griffin. “I had to actually turn away some families because I didn’t want too many people standing around with nothing to do.”

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity has built nearly 43 homes– for people– in Lynmore Estates since 2005, according to agency’s Neighborhood Revitalization Manager, Sundra Woodford.

Woodford says the agency recently completed a spay and neuter program in the area and found out the need for the doghouses.
