More heat Friday; tropics start to heat up

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s again Friday, and the tropics have an area to monitor.
This Evening
It’s been a hot Thursday around Middle Georgia, and it will be a warm evening as well. The Mercer Bears will open their football season tonight against Presbyterian College. Partly cloudy skies accompanied by a few isolated storms will be seen around Middle Georgia this evening. While a lot of clouds will clear during the evening, a handful will stick around into tonight. Shower and storm activity, however, should subside as the sun sets. Overnight lows will be in the lower 70s with ambient wind continuing from the south-southeast around 5 mph.
Tomorrow
The morning will be a muggy one and likely cloudy at the onset, however sunny skies will take over in the late morning before scattered clouds fill in during the afternoon. Highs will again reach the upper 90s for much of the region with real feels eclipsing 100F. A Heat Advisory is not expected at this time, but it’s also not off the table of possibility. A few isolated showers and storms will be possible in the afternoon and evening, however most of the region will not see them. Ambient wind will remain out of the southeast at 5-10 mph.
Overnight will feature scattered clouds and muggy conditions again with lows and dew points expected in the lower 70s. Wind will continue from the south-southeast at 5 mph.
The Tropics
The area of disturbance in the Atlantic Basin now has a 40% chance to become a Tropical Depression in the next 7 days. It will require monitoring as the calendar flips from August to September.
