MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Montezuma police say they recovered stolen property connected to two theft investigations after a search warrant was executed at a suspect’s home.

The Montezuma Police Department says officers responded June 28 to a theft at Yoder’s Storage Buildings on Walnut Street.

According to police, multiple DeWalt tools were stolen from the property.

Police say officers used surveillance video and an investigation to identify a suspect.

Investigators then obtained and executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home, according to police.

During the search, officers say they recovered evidence linking Cecil McDonald of Montezuma to the thefts at Yoder’s Storage Buildings. Police say officers also found property connected to a previous break-in from a few days earlier.

“I am extremely proud of our staff and the outstanding teamwork they continue to demonstrate,” Chief Eric R. Finch said. “Their hard work and dedication resulted in the recovery of property connected to two separate criminal investigations.”
