Restaurant manager wanted for theft at Jack’s in Montezuma

Police say the manager of Jack’s Restaurant in Montezuma is wanted for theft after an investigation pointed to an inside job.

MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Police are searching for a restaurant manager accused of stealing money from a safe at Jack’s Restaurant in Montezuma on Saturday, June 28.

According to a Montezuma Police Department Facebook post, the theft appeared to be an inside job. Investigators believe the suspect had knowledge of both the alarm system code and the safe combination.

Police reviewed internal and external surveillance footage, looked at data from Flock Safety cameras, interviewed restaurant staff and executed search warrants for phone records, camera systems and bank accounts.

After the investigation, police identified the suspect as Joshua Wilcher, the restaurant manager and a resident of Laurens County. Wilcher is now wanted and charged with theft by taking, according to the department.

Wilcher is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has burgundy and black locs, police said.
