Montezuma Police: Man arrested after firing shots in neighborhood

A 19-year-old man was arrested after Montezuma Police say he fired gunshots in a neighborhood.

MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 19-year-old man was arrested after Montezuma Police say he fired gunshots in a neighborhood Monday.

According to the Montezuma Police Department, officers responded to 125 Oakgrove Court around 9:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired and spoke with the homeowner, who said her ex-boyfriend tried to force his way into her home before opening fire in the neighborhood. No injuries were reported.

Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Jonathan Wiggins of Centerville. Investigators used city surveillance cameras and the Flock Camera System to track his vehicle. Wiggins later turned himself in at the Montezuma Police Department.

He was charged with reckless conduct, discharging a firearm near a public highway or street and possession of a firearm or knife while committing or attempting to commit a crime.

Wiggins was taken to the Macon County Jail.
