MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Montezuma Police Department is working to identify and locate people accused of illegally riding four-wheelers on city streets.

According to a news release, shared Wednesday with Flock Safety Camera photos attached, some of those involved have already been identified and charges are pending.

“They were identified through our Flock Camera System and Facial Recognition Software,” the release said.

Officers arrested Keith Walker in connection to the illegal activity. The department said Walker also had outstanding warrants in both Sumter County and Macon County at the time of his arrest.

The release said riding four-wheelers on city streets is illegal and dangerous. Officers say the vehicles lack basic safety features like turn signals, mirrors and crash protection, which puts both the rider and the public at risk.

“In 2022, a tragic incident occurred in Montezuma involving a four-wheeler that resulted in a fatality,” the release said. “This incident is a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with illegal off-road vehicle operation on city streets.”

Anyone who witnesses illegal four-wheeler operation or can locate the people shown in police photos is asked to call the Montezuma Police Department at (478) 472-6260 or dial 911.
