Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warns of new scam

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new scam in the area.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, scammers call the victims or send a letter with no return address, stating they are with Bono Loto ( Spanish Lottery).

The caller/letter then advises the victim they are the winners of 4.5 million dollars, and attempts to get the victims banking information for tax purposes.

The Sheriff’s Office says it strongly encourages you to not give any personal information to these scammers, and pass this information along to others who may not be aware of this scam.
