FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two men are facing trafficking charges after Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say they found hundreds of suspected oxycodone pills during a traffic stop along Interstate 75 on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on I-75 at mile marker 191. Investigators say deputies smelled marijuana while approaching the vehicle, which led to a search.

During that search, deputies say they found about 5.5 ounces of suspected narcotics, including an estimated 300 oxycodone pills. The drugs were found inside a Turtles chocolate pecan candy bag located on the rear passenger seat.

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with trafficking oxycodone. Authorities identified the driver as 48-year-old Antoine Tarence Seymore of Decatur and the passenger as 44-year-old James Rodgerick Whitaker of McDonough.

Deputies also determined Whitiker had an active warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service for identity fraud.

Both men are being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.
