MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Monroe County deputies, working alongside U.S. Postal Inspectors, arrested a woman after a controlled delivery of suspected fentanyl-laced pills last week.
According to a Facebook post by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the controlled delivery happened at a home on West Johnson Street on October 7. The pills, disguised as Oxycodone, were suspected to be laced with fentanyl. After the delivery, deputies executed a search warrant at the home and say they found additional suspected fentanyl-laced pills.
Kimberly Buchanan was arrested and charged with possession of amphetamine, possession of Schedule II controlled drugs and possession of drugs not in their original container.
“Pills of this nature have been responsible for overdose-related deaths in the state of Georgia as well as the nation,” the post read.
