Moist Mother’s Day weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A cold front moving through Middle Georgia today will stall out over South Georgia through this weekend, spurring on many rain opportunities.
This Evening
A partly cloudy and hot afternoon will see conditions become overcast through the evening and into the overnight hours. Rain will arrive from the southwest, eventually spreading to the vast majority of Middle Georgia through tonight and into tomorrow morning. Rain will likely be ongoing at the sunrise tomorrow.
Expect overnight lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s as the wind will be variable at 5-10 mph. Severe weather is not expected, however a couple of wind gusts will be possible with the stronger storms.
Tomorrow
It will be a much cooler day for the first half of the weekend as highs only reach the upper 60s and lower 70s, or about 15-20 degrees cooler than Friday afternoon. Wind will be a bit breezier than in recent days from the east-northeast at 5-15 mph. Gusts should push around 20 mph.
Off and on rain is expected throughout the day with the heaviest amounts likely in the late afternoon and evening. Severe weather is not anticipated, however areas that see repeated rainfall could see a Flash Flooding risk develop.
Expect the rain to continue into the overnight hours before largely subsiding ahead of Sunday morning. Lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s again heading into Sunday’s sunrise. Expect the wind to be a bit gusty as it flows from the east-northeast at 7-15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph.
Mother’s Day and Beyond
Sunday will also be overcast but should feature slightly warmer conditions than Saturday as the stationary front retreats north a bit. Highs will largely reach the lower 70s. Rain odds will climb a lot in the mid to late afternoon with the most widespread rain expected throughout the evening and into the night. It will be a warm night heading into Monday with expected lows in the mid to upper 60s.
The rain train will carry through Monday before slowing some Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect summer heat by the end of next week.
