Perry appoints Mitchell Worthington as assistant city manager
Worthington has served as Perry’s finance director since 2019 and brings 15 years of local government experience.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The City of Perry has appointed Mitchell Worthington as its new assistant city manager.
Perry City Council approved the appointment during its February 17 meeting, according to a news release sent on Wednesday.
The release says Worthington joined the City of Perry in 2018 as assistant finance director and has served as finance director since 2019. He brings 15 years of experience in local government finance, budgeting and administration.
During his time as finance director, Worthington oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, including accounting, purchasing and customer service and utility billing. He also managed the city’s annual audit and worked with the city manager and department heads to develop the annual budget.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Perry as the Assistant City Manager,” Worthington said. “I look forward to advancing the priorities set by Mayor and Council while supporting the strong operational and financial foundation that enables our organization to serve residents effectively.”
Before joining Perry, Worthington worked as a budget analyst for the City of Roswell, where he coordinated budget development for environmental, public works and transportation departments. He also held financial roles at the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.
Worthington holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association and Rotary International.
