Missing boater’s body found in southeast Georgia river

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say the body of a second man has been found dead in a southeast Georgia river after a boat four men were fishing on capsized.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Anthony Soto said in a news release that the deceased man was found by a Georgia Department of Natural Resources search crew around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The accident occurred Wednesday evening on the Brunswick River near the Sidney Lanier Bridge.

Soto says one man was found unresponsive in the water near shore by a Georgia DNR crew and later died Wednesday night. A second man was found wearing a lifejacket and treated at the scene.

Soto says the Coast Guard is still searching for another man.
