MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Miriam Paris has secured re-election for Georgia House District 142.

Paris, who ran against Calvin Dennis Palmer, campaigned on ensuring that areas outside the Atlanta perimeter are not overlooked at the state level.

“Whenever I’m at the Capitol, I’m always fighting for the rest of Georgia,” she said in an interview with 41NBC’s Monica Diaz-Meek last week. “And which for me, of course, is Middle Georgia.”

Paris mentioned her strong relationships with local officials, including the Macon-Bibb mayor and several commissioners, as an advantage for representing District 142.

“The level of experience that I bring to the table as well as my connection to local officials… that matters a lot,” she said.

Paris was encouraged by record voter turnout.

“It’s a responsibility that we have to our country,” she said.
