Downtown Milledgeville launches summer giveaway to reward local shoppers

Milledgeville Main Street will select nine winners this summer to receive $50 in Milly Money gift certificates for shopping local.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A summer promotion aimed at supporting local businesses in downtown Milledgeville will give shoppers weekly chances to win $50 starting in June, according to a news release from Milledgeville Main Street.

The “Ready. Set. Summer Giveaway!” begins this Sunday, June 1, and runs through Wednesday, July 31. Shoppers who spend $5 or more at any downtown business can scan a QR code, upload their receipt and be entered into a weekly drawing.

Each Tuesday, beginning June 10, one winner will be selected to receive $50 in Milly Money. Those are gift certificates accepted at dozens of downtown shops, restaurants and service providers.

There’s no limit on the number of receipts participants can upload, so each purchase increases the odds of winning.

“This promotion is a fun and simple way for local community members to support downtown merchants during the summer months,” Main Street/DDA Director Carlee Schulte said.”School’s out, so there’s parking—and plenty of reason to make downtown your go-to spot for shopping, dining, and fun.”

The promotion lasts for nine weeks, with nine winners selected over the course of the summer.
