UPDATE: Milledgeville shooting suspect is in custody

UPDATE – Officials from the Milledgeville Police Department tell 41NBC News Kiunte Montrelle Lawrence is in custody.


Milledgeville, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Investigators with the Milledgeville Police Department Detectives Bureau are searching for a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred today in the 2300 block Anthony Way.

According to Maj. Mike Hudson, MPD Criminal Investigations Commander, detectives are searching for 22-year-old   Kiunte Montrelle Lawrence. Police say Lawrence is a Milledgeville resident.

Lawrence is wanted as a suspect in an aggravated assault incident that took place Wednesday around 12:20 P.M.

Police believe Lawrence shot a 19-year-old male several times. The shooting victim was transported to Navicent Health in Macon for emergency surgery.

During the initial investigation, Lawrence was identified as the alleged shooter.

Lawrence is being charged with aggravated assault. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10 in height, weighing approximately 150 lbs, with a low hair cut.
