Milledgeville Police Investigating New Year’s Day Shooting
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Milledgeville police are investigating a shooting that happened on New Year’s day.
Major Reggie Hill tells 41NBC officers initially responded to the River Bend Apartments around 2:40AM on Wednesday in reference to shots fired. They found several shell casings of different calibers and there were no witnesses.
Then about two hours later, officers went back to the apartment complex in reference to multiple shots fired. Hill says a man was shot in the arm twice. He was sent to the Oconee Regional Medical Center for treatment. Hill says he was not critically injured.
Hill adds a passenger van occupied by four adults and four children was also struck during the gunfire. No one in the vehicle was injured.
Witnesses told police at least two or three gunmen dressed in black came out of the darkness and opened fire toward the victim. Hill says they also “fired several rounds” toward the front of the apartments.
