Milledgeville’s Oconee River Greenway closed due to flooding, streets expected to flood tonight

Sinclair Dam floodgates open; Milledgeville streets at flood risk

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Milledgeville Police say the Oconee River Greenway is closed until further notice due to flooding.

Four floodgates have been opened at Sinclair Dam “with the possibility of more opening later tonight,” police said in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.

Police say the following streets are expected to flood tonight:

• Underwood Road at Pumping Station Road
• Underwood Road at South Warren Street
• The 300 block of Glenhaven Drive

“We will post updates if/when the roads close,” the post stated. “Please use caution while driving and DO NOT attempt to drive through flood waters.”
