Milledgeville First Friday Bazaar Provides Gift Ideas

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Milledgeville Main Street Holiday Pop-up Bazaar features products from all over Middle Georgia.

I stopped by today to see what kind of gift ideas I could find, and it’s certainly a taste of the unique.

“It’s a traditional barbecue sauce that mother developed…approximately I’d say 50 to 60 years ago,” said Tom Wood of Pink Pig Jams and Jellies.

“Everything’s vintage, so Vintage Vignettes is what we are,” said Hayley Blizzard of Vintage Vignettes.

You won’t find this stuff anywhere else– that’s the whole idea behind the “First Friday Holiday Pop-up Bazaar in Milledgeville.”

Wood sold me on his jams, barbecue sauce and how shopping at bazaars like this is so different.

“It gives them a place that they can go find things that you won’t find at other local big box stores–other types of shops here,” said Wood. “Like those wreaths behind us, jams and jellies here, you’ll see all kinds of stuff in here that you won’t find elsewhere.”

For vendors like Vintage Vignettes, First Fridays help push their product–which includes vintage pictures, and their specialty–lighted signs.

“It’s local,” said Blizzard. “Local businesses are so important–it’s what keeps our town going. I mean, so, we are very local. We’ve been here for a long time so it’s all about local businesses and supporting us.”

And ultimately, organizers like Deana Thornton with Milledgeville Main Street hope events like this will bring the community even closer.

“Just community engagement,” said Thornton. “We want as many people down here as possible. We want them to know this is a fun place to be, a happenin place to be, and we just like to keep it lively.”

And the atmosphere was indeed full of life as the many unique products stood stacked and ready to be wrapped.

The event goes from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday,  and Saturday from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m.
