MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A fireworks company is issuing a $13,500 refund to the City of Milledgeville as well as a 50% discount on future events after its July 4 fireworks show in Milledgeville left many residents disappointed.
In a letter posted by the city on Facebook and signed by company president Ryan N. Wells, Freedom Fireworks acknowledged the frustration and letdown caused by the display on the campus of Central Georgia Technical College.
“On behalf of myself the President of Freedom Fireworks and the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the disappointment surrounding our recent fireworks display that took place on July 4th,” Wells wrote. “We understand that many of you were looking forward to a memorable celebration, and we deeply regret that the event did not meet your expectations.”
The company said it takes “full responsibility” for the issues and is working to restore trust with the community.
“In light of this, we are offering a full refund of the amount of $13,500 to the city of Milledgeville,” the letter said. “Additionally, to demonstrate our commitment to making things right, we are extending a 50% discount to any upcoming Fireworks display hosted by the city or any of its affiliates.”
Wells wrote that the company is taking steps to improve future shows.
