Milledgeville appoints acting mayor and special master
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Milledgeville’s Mayor Pro Tem will continue to lead the Antebelum Capitol until Mayor Richard Bentley returns from his disability leave.
District two city councilwoman, Jeanette Walden will take over his position until Mayor Bentley can resume his duties.
Last month, he wrote a letter to council saying he is unable to perform his responsibilities as mayor due to personal medical issues.
The council also voted to appoint Patrick Longan as the city’s “special master.”
He will be responsible for looking over the filed ethics complaints against council members.
Longan is a professor at Mercer University’s Law School.
