Midnight Miracle: Half-off adoption fees to help find animals homes
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/ WMGT) – This Friday, if you’re looking for a furry friend, there’s a deal in store for you. Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare is having their annual Midnight Miracle.
Having a pet in your home can be costly, even if your adopting. There’s fees, buying food, even going to the vet.
But, Macon-Bibb’s Animal Welfare’s ‘Midnight Miracle’ will help you bring an animal home at a reasonable price.
“Friday is a big day for us,” Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare Manager Tracy Belew said.
She say they’re expecting a crowd for their ‘Midnight Miracle.’ From 11 a.m. until midnight adoption fees are half off.
“$50 for dogs and $37.50 for cats,” she said.
Currently, they are housing 107 dogs are 16 cats.
“So we’re doing good on the cats, we just gotta get our dog numbers down,” Belew said.
Animal Welfare is regulated by the Department of Agriculture. To be compliant with the law, Belew says the occupancy is 80 dogs and 40 cats. By having the ‘Midnight Miracle.’
“This is just a push not to have to euthanize any healthy adoptable animals,” she said.
There’s also going to be a discounted microchip service.
“GoDogsGo will come out and they’re going to do microchips and that’s available to the public it’s $10,” she said.
It’s normally a $50 service at the vet.
“Say that your animal gets loose, well it comes to the shelter. The first thing that we do to all animals is scan them for microchips,” Belew said.
If you can’t bring home a furry friend but still want to come by there’s other options.
“It’s an opportunity to come out and volunteer if you can’t adopt or foster we’ll have a bunch of rescues here that are going to help us,” she said.
To volunteer, Belew says just come in and fill out an application. Again, ‘Midnight Miracle’ is this Friday, May 4th, from 11 a.m. until midnight at Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare.
