Middle Georgians should drip their faucets overnight

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures overnight are expected to plunge into the low to mid 20s.
This Evening and Overnight
What has been a chilly afternoon will give way to a frigid night as temperatures will drop below freezing ahead of midnight. Actual lows by tomorrow morning will be in the low to mid 20s. Plumbing insulation in most of Georgia cannot handle those temperatures, so a slight drip to the faucet overnight is necessary to avoid any major plumbing disasters. Wind will luckily be light and variable
Tomorrow
Courtesy of High Pressure passing through overnight and into tomorrow the wind will shift directions to out of the southwest around 5 mph. This will allow highs to climb back into the mid 50s in the afternoon. While it will be a sunny morning, high cirrus clouds will arrive during the afternoon.
Overnight will be mostly cloudy as another cold front prepares to pass through the Peach State. This could lead to some cold rain showers overnight and into Thursday morning. Tomorrow night will be the only night with lows above freezing as temperatures bottom out in the upper 30s and lower 40s around midnight.
Thursday and Beyond
Thursday will start off cloudy as the cold front makes its pass, however some clearing should occur over the back half of the day. Temperatures overnight will drop below freezing again (could be in faucet drip territory) before Friday afternoon sees the return of highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Gradual warming is expected through the weekend.
