Voters across Middle Georgia approve sales tax measures for schools, roads and safety
Election results show strong support for local E-SPLOST and SPLOST measures, with several Middle Georgia counties approving funding for education and community projects.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Voters in counties across Middle Georgia approved a series of local sales tax measures during Tuesday’s election, supporting education, transportation and community improvement projects.
In Bibb County, voters approved the one-percent education sales tax (E-SPLOST) with 73.79% of the vote, or 14,185 votes in favor and 5,039 against. The measure extends funding for school safety, technology and facility upgrades across the district.
In Houston County, the E-SPLOST renewal passed with 77.04% support, or 20,091 votes for and 5,989 against. The measure includes approval of general obligation bonds for continued upgrades to schools and technology across the Houston County School District.
In Jones County, voters approved their one-percent special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) by a margin of 70.56% to 29.44%, or 2,555 votes to 1,066. The SPLOST will fund road projects, courthouse improvements and public safety equipment.
In Monroe County, the education sales tax (E-SPLOST) was approved with 71.93% support, or 3,660 votes in favor and 1,428 against. The measure will fund projects including a replacement facility for Mary Persons High School and district-wide improvements.
In Laurens County, voters approved the E-SPLOST with 70.08% in favor, or 4,547 yes votes and 1,941 no votes. The measure benefits both Laurens County Schools and Dublin City Schools and will provide funding for new school facilities, technology upgrades and transportation needs.
In Dodge County, the E-SPLOST passed with 74.00% support, or 1,124 votes in favor and 395 against. The renewal funds school facility improvements, technology upgrades and new buses for the district.
In Peach County, voters passed the Floating Local Option Sales and Use Tax (FLOST) with 72.44% support, or 2,650 votes for and 1,008 against. The tax is designed to provide property tax relief for homeowners by offsetting local ad valorem taxes.
In Wilcox County, voters approved two local tax measures. The renewal of the education sales tax (E-SPLOST) passed with 74.25% in favor, or 522 votes to 181, continuing funding for school improvements, facility upgrades and educational resources. Voters also passed a Floating Homestead Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST) with 77.57% support, or 536 votes in favor and 155 against, which is designed to reduce property taxes across the county and participating cities.
Election results show similar measures passed across Middle Georgia, including transportation SPLOST (TSPLOST), education SPLOST (E-SPLOST) and floating local option sales tax (FLOST) referendums.
