Middle Georgia State University Partners With Sleep In Heavenly Peace

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia State University and Sleep in Heavenly Peace are partnering to help provide beds for children in Middle Georgia and study how quality sleep affects childhood development.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds and transports beds for children in need, with chapters spread throughout the United States. The organization is currently expanding its reach through Middle Georgia.

The partnership will also lead to research on the effects of quality sleep on childhood development, which the organization plans to use to strengthen its mission of providing children with beds and proper places to sleep.

Brian Cornett, co-president of the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Macon chapter, said there are several ways community members can get involved, including an upcoming build event.

“Bedding drives, pillow drives, just coming out and working,” he said. “Ashley Home Store — we will be building 50 to 100 beds on June 20 and we would love to have you sign up and come join us.”
