MGA reports record-breaking 8,828 students enrolled for fall semester
University leaders credit accessibility, affordability and expanded academic programs for the continued record-setting growth across MGA’s campuses.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia State University says it has reached the highest enrollment in school history, marking the fourth straight semester of record enrollment and the eighth consecutive semester of overall growth.
According to a university news release, 8,828 students are enrolled for the fall 2025 semester. This total includes a 6.8% increase in new undergraduate enrollment and a 13% rise in transfer students. The university also reported its highest-ever total and new graduate enrollment, as well as continued improvement in the percentage of students returning each semester.
Dr. Stephen Schultheis, MGA’s vice president for Enrollment Management, said the record numbers reflect the university’s focus on student success and accessibility.
“Reaching another all-time high in enrollment speaks to the dedication of our faculty and staff,” Schultheis said. “Our team is committed to helping every student find a path to success. From expanding graduate programs to creating smoother transfer pathways, MGA is providing opportunities that are clearly resonating with students across Georgia.”
University President Christopher Blake said the continued growth demonstrates the success of MGA’s long-term strategic enrollment plan.
“Our focus on affordability, accessibility, and strong academic programs has positioned Middle Georgia State as a university of choice, and that focus is paying off in the record enrollments we’ve seen in consecutive years,” Blake said. “As we strive to be the public university for the region, our growth reflects the effectiveness of our intentional planning and collaboration across campuses and with our communities to serve the public by providing stronger credentials, enhanced professional opportunities, and an improved quality of life.”
