Middle Georgia residents prepare for Independence Day weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Residents are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July in Middle Georgia.

Some people at Lake Tobesofkee say they have plans on spending time at the park the entire weekend and cook on the grill, swim, and spend quality time with family and friends.

“Probably going to be out here for the rest of the day and tomorrow we’ll be back out here possibly for the fireworks and maybe a little bit of catfishing,” Andrew Harris says.

“We don’t have a pool in our backyard, so this is as close as we can get to it,” Jeff Fornby says.

Macon-Bibb County officials say they expect to see about 11,000 people at the park during the Fourth of July.
