Middle Georgia native named Brigadier General in Army
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One middle Georgia native is climbing the ranks in the military, and wanted to bring in the big day with his family.
Colonel Jonathan McColumn is now a Brigadier General in the Army. McColumn is stationed in Des Moines, Iowa — but had the ceremony in his hometown of Warner Robins because his mother can’t travel.
McColumn, a Northside High School alum, says the ceremony was a day of gratitude and he’s appreciative of the countless people who were there to bring in the promotion with him.
“I don’t have the words to describe what this means to have so many people from so many different places throughout the United States be a part of this,” McColumn said.
Dozens of family and friends were in attendance including Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms.
McColumn will command the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Iowa.
