Weather forces Christmas parade cancellations and schedule changes across Middle Georgia

Communities across the region are cancelling or rescheduling parades while some cities keep their holiday events unchanged.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Cities across Middle Georgia are announcing cancellations, postponements or confirmations for this weekend’s holiday events as heavy rain is expected Saturday.

Perry announced Friday that its Christmas parade scheduled for Saturday, December 6, is canceled because of the forecast. Officials said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” and encouraged residents to check the city’s website for other holiday events.

Cochran announced earlier this week that its parade is moving from December 5 to Friday, December 12, at 7 p.m.

Warner Robins released updated plans after its parade was postponed due to weather. The parade will now happen Saturday, December 13, at 10 a.m., following the original route from Davis Drive at Watson Boulevard to Houston Road.

Jeffersonville canceled its Christmas tree lighting scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m., citing “unfavorable weather” in a post on the city’s Facebook page.

Byron canceled its 2025 Christmas parade entirely. According to a post from Tour Byron, the next parade is scheduled for December 5, 2026.

Alamo postponed its Saturday events. The city announced its “Christmas in the City” celebration and parade are rescheduled for Saturday, December 13, with festivities beginning at 1 p.m. and the parade at 6 p.m.

Centerville is moving forward with its lighted parade on Saturday at 7 p.m., encouraging families to dress warmly in a post on social media.

According to Macon-Bibb County, its weekend holiday events remain on schedule. Activities include the Lizella Christmas Parade on Saturday at 2 p.m., the “Macon It Home for the Holidays” parade downtown on Sunday at 4 p.m., the Marché de Noël Christmas Market, and the nightly Christmas Light Extravaganza.

As of Friday afternoon, Dublin’s parade, set for Saturday at 6 p.m., was still on as scheduled.

Several cities are planning parades next week. Gray’s Christmas parade is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, December 13, Bolingbroke will hold its parade at 11 a.m., Gordon at 3 p.m., Roberta–Crawford County at 4:30 p.m., Fort Valley at 5:30 p.m. and Eastman at 6:30 p.m.

Forsyth held its Christmas parade Thursday night.
