Middle Georgia Christmas Tree Recycle Scheduled for Saturday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon and Warner Robins are scheduled to have tree recycling events on Saturday.

Keep Macon Beautiful Commission President and CEO Pam Carswell said their event “Bring One for the Chipper” is sponsored by Georgia Power Advanced Disposal and The Macon Telegraph.

It will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Central City Park behind the Luther Williams Ball Park.

They will also have “roll off bins” at all of the Macon Kroger locations, Wesleyan College, and at the Walmart off Gray Highway.

As a bonus, Georgia Forestry is giving away free red bud and white oak seedlings.

The Keep Warner Robins Beautiful group is also holding its recycling event on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Maple Road near Warner Robins City Hall.

They have partnered with Flint Energies to recycle Christmas Trees since 1990, and each year the two organizations collect about a thousand trees.

This year, you don’t even have to get out of your car because they are creating a make shift drive-thru, and in exchange for your tree, you’ll get seedlings to plant.

“We do this primarily as a public service because the public wants it, and we want those trees planted,” said Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Executive Director Debra Jones, “We want them to find a happy home, that will take care of them and plant every single one of them.”

Organizers of both Christmas Tree recycling events are asking for live trees only, without ornaments or strings.
