MGSC Women and Men Fall to Central Georgia Tech
COCHRAN, Georgia (MGSC RELEASE) – Both the men’s and women’s teams remain winless in 2014 with both teams losing by five to the Titans teams.
The women trailed by as many as nine in the game but fought back to cut the lead to as little as one point with under a 30 seconds to go but the Titans were able to pull out the win 71-66. Free throws were the difference in the game as the Titans hit 26 of 40 while the Knights were 11 of 21 from the charity stripe.
The Knights were led by Va’Queshia Hall with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks. The game high came from the Titans Mercedes Jenkins with 28. The Knights also had Deundria Clark (16 points) and Jada Haynes (12 points) in double digits while Haynes added 6 assists.
The Knights are now 6-6 on the season and 3-4 in conference with a GCAA matchup this Saturday at 1pm against Atlanta Metro in Cochran.
MGSC men fall to CGTC
The men’s team fought a back and forth game in the first half going to the half down 25-24. The game went back and forth before the Knights took a lead at 52-41 with around four minutes remaining. The Titans fought back behind two straight 3 pointers from former Bleckley County High standout Rydaealous Taylor that cut the lead to four and eventually helped his team tie the game at 53 with just over a minute remaining. Baskets were traded until a 57 all tie came with 25.4 seconds remaining. Cam Baker got 3 free throws in his game high 24 while former BCHS standout Brentine Taylor got 2 of his 14 points in the final 25.4 to seal the game at 62-57.
The Knighs had four players in double digits led by Roshaun Milline scoring 13 to follow up his 40 point effort Monday followed by Brandon Ingleton with 12, Phillip Jackson with 11, and Javaris Hooks with 10. Ingleton led the team in rebounds while Hooks had 5 assists and Jackson 3 blocks.
The Knights fall to 4-11 on the season, 1-5 in conference and face Atlanta Metro on Saturday at 3PM at Morris Gym in Cochran.
