Mercer and Robins AFB renew existing Education Partnership Agreement

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mercer University’s School of Engineering and Robins Air Force Base renewed their existing Education Partnership Agreement, Monday morning. The two entities have a 30 plus-year working relationship.

Last month, Robins AFB announced their expansion of projects and need to fill hundreds of positions, including in multiple engineering areas.

Brigadier General John Kubenic says Mercer is a pipeline for students after they graduate for jobs at the base. He says as technology continues to grow, so does the need for engineering jobs.

“Because if we look at how we sustain aging weapon systems and sustain and bring on brand new high-tech weapon systems, at Robins we need the help of the experts in engineering. Folks here at Mercer help us through those tough,” he said.

Kubenic says over 22,000 people work at Robins and many of their employees have roots from Mercer.
