Mercer baseball falls to Florida A&M in mid-week series opener
The Bears (9-9) were held to a season-low three hits in the contest, while giving up a season-high 14 runs and 15 hits.
The Rattlers (7-7) struck in the bottom of the first, grabbing an early with three runs in the opening inning.
Mercer responded with a run in the second, as Charlie Madden hit his third home run of the season to trim the deficit to two, 3-1.
However, FAMU would pull away with a four-run fifth inning, before adding another score in the sixth en route to an 8-1 advantage.
The Bears got back on the board in the eighth, as Nate Moorhouse drove in Jackson Ware with a single up the middle to make it an 8-2 game.
Florida A&M responded in the home half, plating six runs to run away with their fourth victory in their last five games.
Mercer wraps up the mid-week series with the Rattlers tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
