Meet the Candidates in Run Off Election for Wilcox County Sheriff

ABBEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The race for Wilcox County sheriff isn’t over yet. It’s now down to a run-off between Republican Mike Martin and Democrat Lonnie Curry.

The race for Wilcox County’s newest sheriff is almost over. First on the ballot is Republican Mike Martin.

“I think I can do the job that needs to be done,” Martin said.

Martin has 20 years of law enforcement. As sheriff, he plans to tackle the county’s growing drug problem by bringing back the C.H.A.M.P.S. education program and drug task force.

“We’ve got to educate our young people about the dangers of drugs,” Martin said. “You got to make them know it’s a bad thing and educate them on that.”
