Medical Monday: Sepsis Awareness Month

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – September is Sepsis Awareness Month.

Sepsis is a general term used to characterize the body’s immune system response to infection. Medical professionals say it is important that people know about it because it kills quickly. Approximately 258,000 Americans die from sepsis every year.

Sepsis is treatable and can be detected early on. Christie Amerson from Coliseum Northside Hospital stopped by the 41NBC’s studios to talk more about it.
