McDaniel trial moves to Henry County

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Judge Howard Simms signed off on a consent order Wednesday that moves the Stephen McDaniel trial from Bibb County to Henry County.

McDaniel is accused of killing Mercer Law grad, Lauren Giddings, in June 2011.

McDaniel’s attorney, and the state both agreed to the consent order.

The consent order cited extensive, inaccurate and inflammatory media coverage as reasons behind the change of venue.

Jury selection for McDaniel’s trial begins April 28th.
