Mayor Toms comments on the indictment of Development Director Gary Lee

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms addressed the recent indictment of Development Director Gary Lee.

The mayor says the charges all stem from an allegation Lee made about an employee, the Project Coordinator of Economic Development.

Lee faces two counts of falsely reporting a crime and one count of making a false statement.

Mayor Toms says on June 6th, Lee wanted him to report the allegation to the police.

According to Mayor Toms, police spoke with Lee about the complaint and handed the investigation over to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’ve heard statements made that all of this came out of the Mayor’s Office and the fact is, it came out of this office at the request of Mr. Gary Lee and I did what he asked me to do and that’s been my involvement in this case,” Toms said.

Mayor Toms did not comment on the complaint but he did call the situation unfortunate.
