Mayor Reichert proclaims Matilda Hartley Elementary Day
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Mayor Robert Reichert declared Thursday as “Matilda Hartley Elementary Day.”
To celebrate, Mayor Rechert read to Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students in the school’s library. The day is in honor of the school getting off the state’s priority list.
“The priority list are those schools in desperate need of improvements, so if you come off the list that means you’re already improving,” Reichert said. That’s why we’re here to congratulate the principal and the teachers, but to congratulate the kids.”
The mayor read a book called “The Spy Glass” written by Richard Paul Evans.
